Men's Health in Griffin
Practical health checks for men, covering heart, prostate, diabetes, skin and mental health.

The check-up most men keep putting off
Australian men see a GP less often than women and are diagnosed later with conditions that respond very well to early treatment. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes and early prostate changes all develop quietly, and by the time symptoms appear the easy window has usually passed. A men's health appointment is designed to find those things while they are still simple to deal with.
There is nothing confronting about it. Most of a first visit is a conversation, blood pressure, weight and waist measurement, and a pathology request you can have collected on site before you leave.
What a men's health check covers
Your GP will tailor the check to your age, family history and lifestyle, but it usually includes:
- Blood pressure, cholesterol and cardiovascular risk assessment
- Diabetes screening and, where needed, ongoing management
- Prostate health discussion and PSA testing where appropriate
- Skin cancer checks, with on-site excision if something needs removing
- Weight, alcohol, smoking and sleep review
- Mental health support, including Mental Health Treatment Plans
- Testosterone, fatigue and sexual health concerns
- Work, insurance and driver medicals
Mental health counts too
Stress, poor sleep, irritability and low mood are health problems, not character flaws, and they are extremely common in working-age men. Your GP can talk it through, prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan that subsidises sessions with a psychologist, and follow up with you rather than leaving it at a referral letter.
Book a long appointment so there is time to cover everything properly, or call 07 3465 0660 and ask reception which GP has availability.
