Travel Medicine in Griffin
Destination-specific vaccination and health advice before you travel, plus post-travel checks.

Plan the health part early
Travel health advice works best six to eight weeks before departure. Some vaccines need a course of two or three doses, others take a fortnight to reach full protection, and antimalarials sometimes have to be started before you leave. Leaving it to the week of the flight limits what we can do for you.
Bring your itinerary, including stopovers and any rural or remote legs, along with your existing vaccination records.
What a travel consultation covers
Your GP builds the advice around where you are going, how long you are away and what you will be doing there.
- Destination-specific risk assessment
- Hepatitis A and B, typhoid, Japanese encephalitis and rabies vaccination
- Yellow fever certification referral where required
- Routine vaccine catch-up, including measles, tetanus and influenza
- Malaria prevention advice and prescriptions
- Travellers diarrhoea management and a travel medical kit list
- Advice for travelling with an existing medical condition or medications
- Post-travel review if you return unwell
If you come home unwell
Fever, persistent diarrhoea or a rash after travel should always be reviewed, and you should tell us where you have been. Some infections, malaria in particular, can appear weeks or months after you return and the travel history is what points us to the right test.
Call 07 3465 0660 to book a pre-travel appointment, and allow a longer consultation if your trip is complicated.
